if a father owes back child support to a mother who has legal custody of a child, but the child currently resides with his father due to a temporary situation, can the father obtain custody via the courts?

Child support is a separate issue from visitation and custody. A parent can owe back support and still be the court-approved custodial parent. The bottom line in these cases is best interests of the child.</strong>
