Teachers caught changing students’ test answers!
The federal No Child Left Behind law requires elementary school students to pass achievement tests. The tests are given annually to first through eighth grade students. Schools that don’t measure up may be sanctioned by the state.
In 2009, an unusual number of erasures was noticed on the tests from schools in Georgia. An investigation was conducted revealing over 100 teachers who changed students’ answers on the standardized tests. The findings were announced in August, 2010. Most worked at a dozen schools in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The teachers face sanctions ranging from probation to losing their teaching license.
