Gang members told to stay off Internet

08.26.09 | No Comments

A judge in England is fed up with gang members making threatening gestures in online photos. In sentencing nine members of the Fallowfield Mad Dogs on a variety of charges, Judge Clement Goldstone said, “The courts will not stand idly by when youths maraud menacingly like packs of wild animals.”

Three of the nine received jail sentences from six months to three years. All were prohibited from posing together for any reason or individually making gun gestures or promoting gangster lifestyle in online photographs.

There has been an increase in gang recruiting through Facebook, MySpace and other networking sites. Photos are used to glamourize their dress code, attitudes and affinity for weapons. Law enforcement tracts gang activity through monitoring their postings and blogs.
