A human biology rap — for real
Jay Z’s “Money Ain’t a Thang” has gone scientific. Biology instructor, Tom McFadden is 22 and graduated from Stanford University in 2008. He now teaches human biology to sophomores at the university.
Using Jay Z’s hip-hop ”Money Ain’t the Thang,” Tim rewrote the lyrics to explain to his students complicated biology terms and concepts.
For example, in “Regulatin’ Genes” Tim raps “How you tell a cell it should be in the spleen? Or your lung? Or your tongue? Yo, you regulate its genes.” See the video of “Regulatin’ Genes”on YouTube.
Other raps include Timbaland’s ”It’s Too Late to Apologize” renamed “It’s Too Late to Apoptize,” and the Notorious B.I.G. hit “Going Back to Cali” parodied as ”I’m Going Back to Plasma Membrane.”
Regarding his unique teaching methods, Tim commented “Ultimately, the videos were just to get the kids excited about the materials and make a really fun experience for them.”
